Loudest - Toughest places to play..

What are the toughest loudest places to play of the LPD

    1. Gate City- Without any of your own fans to be seen or heard, with the GC fans filling up both sides. The noise is almost unbearable"if the game is goin GC's way" and the atmosphere is almost one of a college game, plus the fireworks and the big horn adds a touch of big time.

    2. Powell Valley- The chills start to be felt when you roll up into Bullitt Park and that band can be heard and then the sea of baby blue and red roar through the valley for the echo effect. the sound of the band really gives meaning to football and is a HUGE motavater to the players, unless youve been on the field to feel it firsthand you cant explain.

3.Appy- If your the opposing team and make it out of Appy without being hit with somthing j/k, consider yourself lucky, and the field is so hard to adjust to because of the condition of it, big advantage there, cause those appy kids are definatly tougher than anyone in the LPD cause of that.

    4. Burton- Really just the fact that there is alot of support in Norton for the Raiders, the fans enjoy the game and you can tell not the loudest but definatly the most dedicated.

    5. C-Wood- Ive never made it to a game at Cwood that i saw someone stand up usually dead, until a big play or two, except for a few times. But definatly one of the nicest fields.

    6. J J Kelly- They try to support the team but it is so hard when seasons go the way they have the past few years, again though big supporters parents and things.

    7. Pound- You hear the same people all the time in pound and they always are told to be quiet well someone needs to scream for somthing over there or the players wont know they are even in a game.

8.Coeburn- Big Empty stands , nice place but no one is ever there and with the support of the people it might make a diffrence.alot of schools would kill for stands that big.

All of the stadiums show their support in diffrent ways and the people that are helping with them are respected by everyone because without them the kids would'nt have a reason or place to play so thanks to all the parents and everyone who helps our kids.

GC can either be the loudest place in the district or the quietest. I've seen it quiet as a mouse with masses of fans leaving the stadium. I believe they can be the greatest supporters while things are going their way.

I would have to agree with the Coeburn assesment. But I can remember when I was a kid up throught the time I played (especially my senior year) the place was full all the time and in '91 it was always standing room only. Talk about a real atmosphere that place was something when full and also had the echo effect from the hill on the home side.

Sad to say but a lot of us fickle fans are that way, not only at GC but many other high school and colleges also. I've seen em file out of Neyland and Lane as bad as any high school or worse.

Have you ever been there? I've never experienced anything like that. Maybe that's a homer comment. In December when the leaves have fell and blowing around it is a much different place than September.

While I was a student I tried to go to as many away games as possible by riding the bus they always took. I've been to most of the Highland schools and some LPD and SW district. There is nothing like the atmosphere at some of the smaller schools in far southwest Virginia. I went to a Pulaski County game 2 years ago when I first moved here to see what all the talk was about. They have a super nice facility, but it was just not the same. Much larger than what I was used to, and farther from the field. I definitely prefer Legion Field and some of the others for watching a game.

GC would have to be the loudest when they ware winning the game. Even if it's by a big margin. And when they had the train horn. Don't get me started on that.

I guess you can only feel these things while your in a game, you know actually playing the game of football ...not just talking and having your opinion on things and posting things on a forum about it......

Re: Loudest - Toughest places to play..

The loudest place that i ever played at was outside the LPD it was at Richlands. Loud fans and the band doesnt help any when the visiting team has the ball. Few times i had to watch the ball because i couldnt even here the play in the huddle let alone the snap count. I know there not an LPD team but i would have to say they are louder than PV or GC.
